A Tectonic Summit Wrap Up

The first ever Tectonic Summit was a success and we are so thankful for those that joined us, sponsored, or followed along on Twitter as we celebrated our first leadership event for container infrastructure. Many great conversations were had, container war stories shared, and plenty of deep dives taken into the latest infrastructure technologies.
Day 1: Tectonic with Distributed Trusting Computing and High Level Container Stories
To recap Day 1, we announced Tectonic Distributed Computing, heard Intel announce Snap, an open source telemetry framework, and listened to companies as varied as International Securities Exchange (video), Viacom (video), Verizon (video) and SoundCloud (video) share their container strategies.

Day 2: Diving Deeper with Containers
On Day 2 we focused on the container technology by diving into Kubernetes, container standards and the container ecosystem. On December 3 Brandon Philips, CTO of CoreOS, kicked off his keynote with a statement about CoreOS' focus on Kubernetes moving forward. Some of those initiatives include:
- Kubernetes Scaling
- Cluster-side Initiatives
- Container Standards
- Increasing Kubernetes Use
The end goal is to create software container standards so developers can build and ship apps confidently.
Also at Tectonic Summit, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) held their first board meeting where technology leaders met to discuss ways to further the adoption of cloud native computing.

Our partners are working to expand our capabilities. At Tectonic Summit, Project Calico and Couchbase both announced support of Tectonic.
Project Calico
With the recent release of Kubernetes v1.1, Project Calico fully supports integration with CoreOS Tectonic clusters. Adding Project Calico to Tectonic brings simple, scalable, secure networking to Tectonic.
Couchbase
Tectonic, along with Couchbase and Couchbase Mobile, provides a complete story around flexible persistent storage that scales with complete mobile offline support is now possible.
